In parts 1 and 2 we discussed why diets don’t work and some of the issues dieters have. We discussed setpoints and the fallacy of just eating less calories. We also discussed why exercise and diet alone does not work. And why certain foods work better than others. Certain supplements were also discussed along with a particular kind of vegetables called “Thermic Vegetables” These burn more calories than they contain.
Let me also address a question that came up about exercise. If you have read any of my linkedin articles, you know that I am a devout beleiver in regular exercise. Nothing will add years ot your life and life to your years as well as exercise. My point was and is that if diet and exercise is all you have to do to lose weight, then how come so many who attend health clubs and diet are having so much difficulty losing weight?
I have been weight training since 1964. Ran a chain of gyms in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I still workout 3 times per week at least. I believe strongly in it, however, it is not a panacea to weight loss.
I saw it in my gyms in the 1970s. People would come in and workout, diet but still didn’t get their desired results. After months of this, they gave up in frustration.
In 1974 I first began using protein powders as a meal replacement. As far as I knew, no one else was advising this. All weight trainers, bodybuilders and powerlifters used protein powders as a supplement, never as a meal replacement. In an attempt to drop my weight from 185-190 lbs down to the 165 lbs class for powerlifting events, I experiemented with protein shakes. They worked like magic. It was concentrated protein. Had as much protein as a steak or six eggs but without the calories or fat. The weight melted off me, I made weight but unlike other diets I used, I lost no noticeable strength.
In 1976 I began marketing a Hi Protein Weight Loss Meal Replacement product called Slender Now. It was better than my self created system and people got incredible results. Those who could not lose weight any other way saw dramatic results. Like losing 50lbs, 100 lbs or more. A buddy weighed 350 lbs and lost 75lbs in a few months.
People in my gyms who used the program got the best results.
As I mentioned previously, I have always had a weight problem. At 7 years of age I was awarded the dubious award of heaviest boy at our family reunion. At age 13 I started lifting weights and even though I only weighed 98lbs, I was soft, flabby and with a potbelly.
In high school, I continued to lift weights, was on the wrestling team, ran 2 miles every day and was still fat with big hips as one of my old school chums put it. So my purpose here is to let all of those who have tried in vain to exercise and diet only to fall short, you are not alone.
We also discussed the loss of lean tissue. On typical diets that is the primary weight that is lost, lean tissue and water and very little fat at all. Why is this important. You want to lose fat. Fat is what causes heart attacks and other illnesses along with being unsightly.
Lean tissue on the other hand gives a man an athletic look and a woman curves and shape. Lean tissue also burns calories even at rest. The more lean tissue you have, the less chance of adding fat later on. And the faster you will lose the fat you have.
This also partially explains the yo-yo syndrome. As diets lose lean tissue, their bodies have a tendency to store more fat. Even if they lose weight, they look like smaller fat people. Also keep in mind that fat weights less than lean tissue.
Most importantly, if you lose too much lean tissue your body will turn to it’s own lean tissue for nourishment as with the fad liquid protein diets of the 1970s.
I recommend to my clients that they no only weight, but also measure themselves and take a before picture when they start their programs. Also get a body fat analysis done. Most health clubs can do this for you and now even grocery stores like Publix have the Higi machines which take your blood pressure, pulse, heart rate, your weight, your body fat percentage and tell you what you should weight and what your ideal fat to lean tissue ratio should be. I highly recommend these.
In part 2 we also discussed a dynamic fat burner that creates the necessary therogenic action you need to lose weight, fat weight. It should be noted that this gently and safely stimulates the metabolism. Unlike the dangerous fat burners of the 1990s which used the aggressive and dangerous ephedra.
Another key to help those who want to lose those excess pounds and keep them off forever is a candida/parasite/toxin cleanser. If you cave sweets you are no doubt loaded with candida albicans.
